Sample Sites
These are a few
of the diverse sites and other samples hosted and/or designed
by Earthfire®.
Each link
will open a new browser window. Each page of each Earthfire®
designed site is intended to effectively tell a story.
Each page is designed to be less than 45 KB in total digital
size (including dependent images), and to contain only valid
HTML code capable of rendering acceptably across different
browsers. Earthfire®
sites and pages receive relatively high visitor traffic, because
of the skillful use of keywords in text and metatags.
Agriculture
The Melaleuca and other invasive weeds have taken over parts
of the Everglades. As explained in the USDA-ARS
site weedbiocontrol.org,
properly tested natural enemies have been introduced to help
manage exotic invasives. (Not an Earthfire®
design).

Detailed but small bandwidth maps have been drawn to help
students use the Express Buses.
Graphics
One of our strongest skills is in the creation of compelling,
low-bandwidth digital images for rapid transmission over the
web. The page earthfire.com/designs/scanning.html shows
how the resolution of source images can dramatically affect
the quality of rendered, compressed JPEG images. It
is important to work from 3-4 MB TIFF files even if the web
images is only 5-15 KB.
Horticulture
Homeowners and others trying to maintain turf in an environmentally
conscientious way can learn the latest scientific information,
and share views with one another. The 3000-page site,
floridaturf.com has
been active since 1997 and receives over 500 visitors per
day. A companion site is
turfgrass.com which receives over 800 unique
visitors per day.
